Following approval from Mayor Tom Page and the Chester City Council, the Chester Police Department purchased a police canine. The purchase request was presented as an opportunity that had just been made available to the Department a few days prior. The owner/trainer was selling the police canine at a reduced price. Chief Coffey reported that, while he had plans down the road to acquire a police canine for the Department, it was not one the Police Department had planned to pursue right away. This opportunity changed that line of thinking.
The Chester Police Department have announced that charges have been filed against 32-year-old Phillip C. Keeton of Chester for his alleged involvement in an Armed Robbery that occurred at the Casey’s General Store, located at 2431 State Street in Chester on August 3, 2013.
