Faculty members at St. John Lutheran School in Chester recently participated in the Chester Police Department's Active Shooter Training program.
Chester Police Chief Ryan Coffey said the topic focused on response to an active shooter or intruder.
The police department's instruction is based on the 4E concept by Tier One Tactical Solutions, LLC. 4E stands for "Education, Evade, Escape and Engage." These terms serve as the basis for the program curriculum.
"The St. John faculty did a great job," said Chief Coffey. "They were very engaged and asked a number of important questions. We learned a lot as well. We look forward to training with them again."
The Chester PD has now presented these concepts to the staff at Chester Grade School in addition to St. John. A training date has been set for St. Mary's Catholic School.
If you represent a school, daycare or workplace in the immediate Chester area, you can contact Chief Coffey at 826-5454 for details on how to bring this training to your company or workplace.
